As Slow Food Delmarva continues to grow, we hope to organize a number of local community projects and activities.
Community Projects currently in development include:
- As we become a chapter and begin hosting pot luck dinners we want to create a cookbook with local cuisine and traditions. Essentially, this book would comprise of each meal we cook at our pot luck dinners.
- Utilizing the current Slow Food School projects we 100% want to get involved with the schools. Whether it be hosting cooking classes and seminars to eventually planting a garden in every local school.
- Develop a local “Ark of Taste” movement to help sustain local blue crab. We have many pollution issues here in the DE bays and we will help combat these issues and help sustain the blue crab cultivation.
- Establish a quarterly newsletter to educate the public about food policy changes on local, state and federal levels. This will co-exist with our calendar of events, farmers market appearances and our battle of the chefs competition.
